How To Buy App Source Code Wisely?

If you want to play the app reskinning game, you need solid source code that lends itself to reskinning with different themes.

If the app, whose source code you are considering, is in the App Store, you can easily check it:

  • Just download the app and play with it for 5 minutes.
  • Try every function and feature you can see to find out any crashes.
  • Try on different devices with varios operating system versions, if possible.

Once you are satisfied with the app and are about to buy its code, do one simple but extremely important step before pressing that Buy button:

Get in touch with your (or find a) development team to:

  • find out if they can reskin the app at all
  • find out how long it may take to reskin the app
  • find out how much it may cost to reskin the app
  • find out how much a bulk reskin order may cost

The answers of the development team may really surprise you:

  • we do not deal with the programming language used in the app
  • we cannot offer superior design for this type of app
  • we cannot start with the reskin immediately
  • the reskin of this app will cost more than usual
  • the reskin of this app will take much longer than usual
  • we cannot guarantee that all the planned reskins will be accepted Apple
  • etc.

Here is the rule of thumb:

Always talk with your development team about the reskin project feasibility before buying any app source code for reskin.

The fastest, most cost-effective and discovery-effective way to be found in international App Stores is to translate only the App Title. There is no urgent need to translate neither App Keywords nor App Description. This because the App Title has most weight in the search algorithm used by Apple when the users search for apps.

Once you have translated the App Title into different languages, you need to specify your App Keywords for each language that is not English. To do so, take your English keywords and remove the ones that are least effective in your point of view. Then, add the most effective keywords from your App Title in English. What you get is the most effective English keywords from your English App Title and Keywords. Make it 100 characters long including separating commas and use it in ALL international App Stores.

This way, you get:

  • the most effective keywords
  • for all international App Stores
  • for the lowest price possible
  • in record low amount of time
  • with record low effort

How To Create An Effective 3 Step Project Plan For Your App Development Team?

When you give your app development team a bigger project (10+ apps at once), it is essential you agree on a project plan with the team.

Otherwise, delays are inevitable.

If you agree on the project deadline without a project plan, the deadline will be delayed.

Milestone 1 with Deadline: App Team has understood the project goals and is ready to start. It will require a great deal of input from you:

  • app designs
  • icon designs
  • screenshot designs
  • code upload responsibility
  • metadata responsibility
  • ad networks to use
  • ad placements

All your input shall be in written form (dropbox or google docs, not email).

Milestone 2 with Deadline: App Team has created a clear plan for each app with the following deadlines:

  • app graphics finished and sent for review
  • feedback on app graphics incorporated
  • app code finished and sent for review using testflight
  • feedback on app code incorporated
  • app screenshots generated and sent for review (dropbox)
  • feedback on app screenshots incorporated
  • app submitted to iTunes
  • app payment received from you

You agree with the plan. The plan is in written form (dropbox or google docs, not email).

Milestone 3 with Deadline: App Team has finished the execution according to the agreed plan. App Team has been paid according to the agreed conditions.

Let your app team only start when the plan is in place in written form. It will save you lots of delays, headaches and arguments.

How To Take Full Advantage of the Apple Affiliate Program?

Many app developers have heard about the Apple Affiliate Program. It offers a way to earn commisions on app sales generated through affiliate links to apps, and other content on iTunes.

The affiliate links can be conveniently incorporated inside your apps.

For instance, you can have a free version of your app link to the premium version of the app, which contains premium features.

The link you use shall be not plain but affiliate.

For instance: https://itunes.apple.com/app/instant-fitness-10-best-ways/id692164177?uo=4&at=11l6aA

As you can see at the end of the link, it has the uo=4&at=11l6aA suffix on it. The suffix identifies the affiliate to Apple.

Every time a user clicks the link and gets to the App Store, Apple knows that the user was referred and brought there by the affiliate as defined in the affiliate link: uo=4&at=11l6aA 

For the 24 hours after the click happens, Apple tracks all the iTunes Purchases done by the user. And they pay the affiliate 7% commission on those purchases.

You can conveniently see all the Apple revenue generated by your affiliate links in the dashboard on http://affiliate.itunes.apple.com There, you can also see your earned commissions like that:
