How To Go Cross-Platform Right From The App Business Start Fast?

If you are serious about your app business, you shall think about publishing apps on several platforms at once.

In gaming, this can be achieved through Unity or Cocos2d-X.

In other genres, this can be achieved through Phone Gap.

In Android world alone, there are more than 20 App Stores, you can publish in.

Even very small App Stores, such as Blackberry, might be interesting if you are targeting a very specific niche, such as entrepreneurs over 50, operating in very traditional industries.

The goal is to reuse as many assets as possible across platforms:

  • app content
  • app design
  • app icon
  • app title
  • app description
  • app search keywords

Here is the rule of thumb:

  • Always start on iOS first when you are a beginner in the app business. This will bring you the most revenue.
  • As you progress in your app business understanding, find a team that can publish on many platforms simultaneously.

It is so much fun to go cross-platform reusing most of the assets you created for iOS. It will most probably not double you revenue but it will definitely significantly improve your Return On Investment (ROI) in the assets.

What Is The Right App Publisher Mindset?

When you publish apps, there are a lot of small things you need to accomplish on a daily basis.

They include:

  • Communication with designers
  • Communication with developers
  • Submitting apps
  • Deciding on app updates
  • Deciding on new apps
  • Etc. etc.

These tasks are of repetitive nature and, therefore, appreneurs wear tired of them after a while.

To avoid the boredom, which will inevitably lead to decreased productivity, follow this piece of advice:

Put your mind on higher goal when doing mundane app tasks:

  1. Revenue increase resulting from the tasks
  2. One step towards less work in future as more apps will be earning revenue for you
  3. Sense of accomplishment once you notify your network when the app is in the App Store

That is, while doing the mundane tasks, you actually think about the 3 things above. This will put your mind into a positive state resulting in a constantly high productivity.

What Is The Best Way To Increase International App Sales?

The translation of App Title, Description, Keywords, Screenshots and Content into different languages is important and can significantly increase app revenue in countries around the globe.

However, it is even more important to succeed in the US App Store because it will definitely also increase your international sales.

Why is it so?

All the top selling apps in US App Store are tracked by numerous international websites, apps and social media accounts (twitter, facebook etc.).

They are visited by people from around the globe who download the top selling apps from their local app stores.

That is:

If your app succeeds in the US App Store, it will also do comparatively well in other countries as well.

It is definitely safe to say that succeeding in the US App Store will increase the international revenue much more than app asset translation in different languages.

What Is The Last Mile In App Project?

What is involved in really getting the app into the App Store after the development has seemingly been finished?

Short answer: a whole lot!

Here is what it is:

  • Come up with a catchy and keyword-full App Title and put it into iTunes Connect

  • Make sure the App Title is in sync with the App Name on device

  • Come up with the best possible search keywords and put them into iTunes Connect

  • Come up with a great App Description and put it into iTunes Connect

  • Make great screenshots for iPhone 3.5, iPhone 4 and iPad and upload them into iTunes Connect

  • For each supported language, repeat the steps with App Title, keywords and screenshots.

  • Put your contact information into iTunes Connect

  • Upload App Icon into iTunes Connect

  • Put the right App Version Number into iTunes Connect

  • Compile you App in XCode with the same version and build number. Do not forget to sign the binary with the corresponding App Store Distribution Provisioning Profile.

  • Zip the compiled app.

  • Upload the zipped app using Application Loader.

  • Make sure the App goes into the state “Waiting For Review” in iTunes Connect. Otherwise, if problems are detected by Apple, you will need to change and resubmit the binary.

All these steps lend themselves to outsourcing. You will need to find an Uploading Person who can help you accomplish the steps.
